If you’re at that point where you are already earning enough money to invest in something, think about investing in your profession. If you have a clinic, then why not make it bigger. You could also get new equipment or hire an assistant. Money spent for your profession is money that you’ll be able to gain back through better practice and improved customer returns.

You can also consider funding another discipline. You might want to branch out into physical therapy if you notice that many of the people who come to you also require a therapist. Look at either what interests you or what will bring you more patients. Getting a degree as a medical doctor is also a great complement to your chiropractic practice. You’ll be able to prescribe medicines for when the patient needs and consents to them. But when they want something more natural then you have your chiropractic knowledge to fall back on.

Unless you know someone who is willing to take you under his wing the moment you get your degree, you will have to go through some rough times first. That Chiropractor salary isn’t going to be laid down in a silver platter just because you’re finally done with school.

If you’ve been working part time then you might want to continue with the job for awhile. Remember that you still need to pass the licensure exam. You can’t practice without a license and it’s best that you take the exam immediately after you finish your degree. This way everything is still fresh and you can jump into the practice as quickly as possible.

Once you pass the exam you’ll have to start building up your reputation and patient list. Just because you tell people that you’re a qualified chiropractor already it doesn’t meant that they’ll automatically come to you. You’ll have to work for their patronage.

If you want to become a licensed chiropractor you will have to pass the State’s licensure exams. The requirements for the said exams are the same with the rest of the licensure exams. You need to have been granted a degree as a “Doctor of Chiropractic” from a college or University that has been accredited by the state.

Some states only require 2 years of study but the current trend, especially because of the continuing growth of the field, is to require 4 years of study. Once a license is granted the grantee is normally only allowed to practice within the state where he took the exam, basically the state that granted his license. However some states allow inter state license acquisition without a test for so long as the practitioner passed the exam in his original state.

So for those who are interested in the Chiropractor salary, you should know that you will have to put in the hard work needed to pass the four year course and the licensure exam. The Chiropractic profession needs dedicated professionals and not opportunists.

 

One excellent idea for practitioners who want an increase in their chiropractor salary is to go into a multi disciplinary practice. Having more than one method of treatment is always better and people will be more inclined to visit you particularly because of you’re skills.

One example of a discipline you might want to look at is physical therapy. A lot of people need a PT for when they get injured. A good number of them have injuries that might benefit from a PT who is also familiar with the chiropractic practice. These two fields are very complementary.

An even better practice to pair with the profession is medicine. You’ll be able to provide your patients with both non-surgical/non medical relief with your chiropractic knowledge and prescribe modern medicines for when they are necessary.

Starting a multi disciplinary practice is a brilliant career choice and should be strongly considered by all chiropractors that are serious about their practice.

The Chiropractic industry is expected to grow by 20% from the years 2008 to 2018. This is according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. The favorable growth estimate is based on the current constantly increasing demand for their services. More and more people seem to be finally recognizing the legitimacy of the chiropractic practice.

This can only bode well for the practitioners. With the increased demand for their services chiropractors will be given more leeway when it comes to the professional fee that they charge. This will naturally result in an increase in the over all chiropractic salary.

Following the law of supply and demand, an increase in demand will prompt more people to enter the profession. The field of practice will then swell its ranks and this can only bode well for the profession. More practitioners mean more research and data. The knowledge base and techniques of chiropractors will be further refined and improved. Hopefully this will reset the cycle of growth and development.

It’s not all about the chiropractor salary. That’s what I tell new practitioners every time they talk to me. You have to do it for the patients. The skills of a practitioner have to be used to help other people. Treat them if they can be treated and take away some of their pain so that they can continue to live their lives.

Money is important to sustain ourselves but it should never be the sole goal when picking a profession. Even if the chiropractic practice pays well, going after money alone will only result in an eventual burnout. You’ll end up hating what you’re doing and once that happens you’ll start hating your patients as well. If you’re in the health industry and you hate your patients, that’s just sad.

Make sure that you pick the profession that you love. Stick to it, persevere and do everything to succeed.
